Another Year of Protection for AO…
The Washington Capitals have re-upped Donald Brashear for another year. That means another year of guys thinking twice before taking a run at Alexander Ovechkin or any of the young Caps. Brashear has been a model enforcer in the NHL this year, looking to stick up for teammates rather than engage in pointless heavyweight fights. Earlier in the season, Brashear pounded Thrasher Vitaly Vishnevski in response to an Andy Sutton cheap shot to Caps defenseman Mike Green. Most recently, Brashear too exception to a late run and at Ovechkin and promptly beat Colton Orr the very next game. Brashear has also chipped in with 2 goals and 5 assists to go along with his 152 penalty minutes.
